Beaches in Myanmar

pristine beaches on the Myanmar main coast and
on hundreds of Islands the most popular are:
Ngapali
The beautiful Ngapali beach is located in
Thandwe (Sandoway) about an hour’s flight from
Yangon. This unspoilt beach stretches over 3 km.
and is an ideal place for everyone who loves
sea, sand, sun and swimming, snorkeling or
carefree loitering on the beach, or just sitting
amidst whistling wind, hotels.
Kan Thaya Beach
Rakkhine State’s third pleasant beach resort
“KAN THAYA” is situated in “GWA” township only
82 miles from “Ngapali” beach. Yangon to Gwa is
about 174 miles by motor road, and the route
from Gwa to Kan Thaya beach is 17 miles. Gwa has
an airfield and the flight from Yangon to Gwa
takes only 50 minutes.
Chaung Tha Beach
Chaung Tha beach is located 40 km to the west
of Pathein (Bassein) in Ayeyarwady division. It
is reached in about 6 hours by car from Yangon,
hotels.
Ngwe Saung Beach or Silver Beach
A new destination on Myanmar's tourism map,
Ngwe Saung (Silver Beach) offers its visitors
unspoiled beaches and tranquility on the coast
of the Indian Ocean. A few entrepreneurs have
begun developing accommodation for local and
foreign visitors. The destination is still in
its early stages of this development process.
Ngwe Saung can be reached by car from the
capital Yangon in approximately seven hours. The
journey takes travelers on a partly bumpy and
pot-holed road across the alluvial Ayeyarwaddy
Delta region. As an alternative to road travel,
it is now possible to travel from Yangon to the
Pathein River by boat, a journey of
approximately 16 hours through picturesque
scenery, passing homesteads and typical villages
dotted along the riverbanks. Countless larger
and smaller tributaries interconnect the vast
and fertile Ayeyarwaddy Delta; it is an ideal
area for rice cultivation. Ngwe Saung Beach, as
the latest emerging beach destination in
Myanmar, is a jewel for independent travelers
seeking nothing more but quietude, seashore and
the ocean. |
